These devices consist of two independent voltage comparators that are designed to operate from a single power supply over a wide range of voltages. Operation from dual supplies also is possible as long as the difference between the two supplies is 2 V to 36 V, and VCC is at least 1.5 V more positive than the input common-mode voltage. Current drain is independent of the supply voltage. The outputs can be connected to other open-collector outputs to achieve wired-AND relationships
LM393P is a linear voltage comparator IC that can compare two different voltage inputs and output a high or low level based on their relative size. Therefore, its most commonly used application is to detect and control voltage levels, such as:
1 Threshold detection, outputting a high-level signal when a voltage reaches a pre-set threshold.
2 Temperature control, adjusting heater power by comparing a thermistor and reference voltage
3 Liquid level detection, detecting the level of liquid by comparing a liquid level sensor and reference voltage
4 Power supply monitoring, detecting the stability of a power supply by comparing the input voltage and reference voltage. Etc.
